Words and Music for Langston Hughes

Hughes’ poetry, along with music and poetry by Lewis Jordan (alto sax), Sandi Poindexter (violin) and Jimmy Biala (drums/percussion). The language and rhythm of Langston Hughes connected so well with the music of our roots. He evoked the blues and jazz to offer a unique celebration of our history of love, struggle, resistance and determination.

We are happy to celebrate his birthday on February 1st at the SF State University Poetry Center.
