I began Music at Large dedicated to interdisciplinary and multicultural productions, with presentations incorporating music, theater, dance, poetry and visual art. Since that time, Music at Large has been a vehicle for producing musical performances of my own and others’ work, plays, and panels.

The genesis of Music at Large is my commitment to bringing people together by bridging arbitrary distinctions that have only served to divide us from ourselves, as well as serving to divide us from others.

By arbitrary distinctions I mean the categories that have served the larger agenda of commodification. For instance, where once there was the term jazz, setting aside for a moment the issues with the term’s history, there is now fusion jazz, dinner jazz, rock jazz, acid jazz etc. Those different terms are basically marketing tools. Your preference for one or the other is the means by which the marketeers hope to induce you into separating yourself from the undifferentiated masses who simply love music.
